The valve buttons have been replaced with larger ones to make it look even more tenor tuba like. I always liked playing this instrument on tenor tuba parts (it's played The Planets, Ein Heldenleben, Holst Suites, Bydlo, Janacek Sinfonietta and lots of studio sessions) and both I and the tuba players love that the bell faces to the left like a tuba. Interestingly, the valve tubing all goes up on this design which means you never get water gurgles. It is a large bore euphonium, takes a bass trombone shank mouthpiece, 4 front piston valves, compensating system, satin silver finish, Bob Reeves valve alignment. This is one of those early models, showing serial number 19. ![]() Designed in the 1970s, Fred Marzan worked with Swiss maker Willson on a line of euphoniums and tubas with unique design features both sonically and ergonomically. ![]() One of my personal instruments, I've had this euphonium in my collection for over 20 years and it is a very special one. ![]() Original Willson Marzan Compensating 4 valve Euphonium
